I’m honored to have been featured in Westmoreland County Community College’s Alumni Spotlight! It was such a meaningful opportunity to reflect on my journey—from returning to study fine art, to growing my studio practice and teaching, to being involved in community art projects and creative entrepreneurship. Thank you Brittany Martin for the feature!

Excerpt from the spotlight:
Stephanie Oplinger (’09, ’20) of Hunker, PA, shared that after years in other fields, returning to Westmoreland to study fine art was life-changing. She notes that one art class and a mentor helped her realize art was not just a passion but a legitimate path. After earning her BFA, she now runs an art studio in Greensburg, manages her online presence, works as Office & Gallery Coordinator at Touchstone Center for Crafts, and stays deeply connected to community networks. She described her experience at Westmoreland as dedicated both to creative practice and preparing students for art careers and business.
