About the Exhibition

As an artist, my work is an intimate reflection of my own journey through the intricate tapestry of womanhood.

Stephanie Oplinger

As an artist, I have dedicated my practice to exploring the intricate nuances of the feminine experience, delving into its multifaceted nature, where frustrations and triumphs intertwine, and diversity flourishes. Taking inspiration from music’s  “Theme & Variations,” I strive to reclaim narratives by acknowledging and celebrating the complexities and nuances of women’s experiences, as well as my own.

Through the fluidity of monotype, I seek to capture the transient essence of feminine emotions, translating the ephemerality of our experiences into a tangible visual narrative. The interplay of light and shadow within the cyanotype prints echoes the delicate balance between strength and vulnerability, shedding light on the resilience and perseverance that define the feminine spirit. These prints, with their rich tonalities and evocative textures, invite viewers to contemplate the profound intricacies of the female journey.

Intertwined within this visual narrative are my sculptural explorations, which manifest the unyielding strength and resilience that defines the feminine form. Utilizing various materials, I sculpt representations of the female body that challenge conventional ideals, celebrating the diversity and beauty inherent in every curve, every line, and every contour. Through these sculptures, I aim to provoke a dialogue on the societal constructs that often confine and restrict the expression of the feminine self, while celebrating the triumphs and the indomitable spirit that transcends such constraints.

My work is an ode to the struggles and the victories of women across all walks of life. It is a testament to the power and resilience that we inherently possess, a celebration of our diversity, and a call to embrace the full spectrum of the feminine experience. With this exhibition, I invite you to join me in this exploration, to engage in a profound dialogue that transcends boundaries and fosters a deeper understanding of what it truly means to be a woman in today’s ever-evolving world.
