My artistic exploration delves into the complex portrayals of women and the nude in Western art, examining how these representations have historically been shaped by the male gaze and objectification. I explore concepts such as internalized self-objectification, revealing how women’s identities have often been framed through the lens of others’ desires, reducing them to commodities for consumption. This critical analysis highlights the lasting impact of these portrayals on contemporary art and modern cinema, as well as the ways they continue to influence societal attitudes toward women today. By understanding this historical context, I aim to challenge and redefine these narratives in my own work, contributing to a more empowered and nuanced representation of femininity.

Evolving Bodies

In Evolving Bodies, I delve into the societal criticism and commodification of the female form, reflecting on how these pressures damage the psyche and distort self-image. Through a series of acrylic paintings and soft sculptures, I express the emotional toll of society’s unrealistic beauty standards and offer an artistic voice that pushes for body acceptance and empowerment.

Woman & Variations

This collection of monotype, cyanotype, and sculpture pieces explores the multifaceted nature of the feminine experience, where frustrations and triumphs intertwine. Women and Variations is a testament to the deeply personal narrative that has shaped my existence while also celebrating the diversity and complexity that flourish within the stories of women.

Ancient Female Wisdom

I aim to honor the strength and wisdom of empowered women throughout history. The stories we tell shape how we see and treat one another, and with each bust I create, I seek to remind us of the ancient wisdom passed down by our ancestral women. These sculptures are a tribute to the primordial stories that connect us all, a reminder that we share a common heritage: we all come from the same woman.
